when the sky is red, the dust is near, its coming from above the homes. Drowning the Okies with nothing but black dust...blinding them from their sight. |

the Okies know that when the sky is red like blood, their will be lots of dust floating in the sky because of the pour amount of rain that fall. |

after the dust bowl, the farmers had nothing left, the soil couldn't' ever grow anything again because all the nutrients were gone. |

since Oklahoma had many dust storms, many Okies read handbills about California and all their opprotunities so they decided to go to California where they pass the famous mother road, route 66. |

jalopies were used during the Dust Bowl to carry the Okies luggage to California. It would get crowded. |

many of the Okies jalopys piled up with belongings such as the picture above. Sometimes, the old jalopys would get a flat tire which cause the Okies to stop along the way. |
