this photograph shows a homeless man who have nowhere to go and return to.

the originial lyrics to the great dust storm song by woody guthrie. this made a great impact to the ways the dust bowl was sought and finished, this song shows some of the emotions of what the Okies felt.

when the Okies got into California, some farmers work day and night collecting cabbages.

this is a refugee camp near Holtville, California where Okies set up tent.

a migrant agriculture worker in Holtville,  California. [a squatter].

Okie children had to live in weedpatch camps because they had nowhere to go when they came to California. Nice people build places for the Okies to stay in and they had to survive by themselves.

this is the water supply in a squatter camp for the Okies. This water supply is near Calipatria and is fed by a basin by a ditch.

this is a weedpatch camp, made just for the Okies to live in. in the weedpatch camps, they had weekly dances, talent shows..etc..
