August Aboard
The Mattison Cruiser

August 27 - September ?- We are staying at Secret Lake Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. It's beautiful here and we are looking forward to enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the Resort. So far, we've been busy finishing up the vehicle situation, and taking care of Daryl's post-op details. Hopefully I can get more pictures up-load while we are here..."real internet" access instead of using the cell phone to up-load up-dates to our site...talk about "slow"!!

August 14-August 27- We've been staying at Sun Resorts RV Park in Clarcona, Florida since we arrived. I must add, it will be the only time we stay at this Resort!?!? It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting everything settled and shopping for new vehicles. We not only had to look for our "toad" (that's a tag-a-long vehicle for those of you who don't understand RV talk) but also something to replace Ryan's Saab! The air conditioning went on his car shortly after we arrived in Florida. No air conditioning in Florida...NO WAY! It's almost unbearable! Finally after finding some vehicles, we went round and round with the laws & regulations in Florida. What a hassle!! Hopefully we have that figured out now. We are now waiting to take ownership of these new vehicles! On top of that, I was sick for 3 days with flu like symptoms and Daryl discovered he needed hernia repair surgery!! He went thru the surgery "thumbs up" and will need to take it slow and easy a few days.
We were fortunate enough to "get away" from all of the headaches and hassles for a few days and visited some very good friends in Punta Gorda, FL. We had a great time catching up, relaxing, and forgetting our troubles and woes! We are looking forward to another get-together with Sandy & Robert in the near future!! Have even made some plans with them to take a trip to Cape Hatteras, NC.
We are also looking forward to having Cindy, Pat & PJ (Daryl's sister & family) join us this weekend! It's always a "bundle of laughs" with them around!
The month of September will bring some exiting times for us as we are planning on attending a couple of UCF's football games to watch the UCF Marching Knights perform!! On Sept. 28th, they will be  performing at the 1st Home Game and it will be at the Citrus Bowl. On the 29th, they play exhibition at half-time of the National Football League's Jacksonville Jaguars vs New York Jets football game. Big deal stuff
and the game will be televised on National TV. So, if you watch the game, and they also televise the half-time exhibition, watch for our tall saxophone player! Ryan also just found out they are going to Marshall University in West Virginia to play at that game to support their football team.
College life seems to be going well for Ryan and he has meet some nice people thru Band Camp, his classes and dorm. He told us that Band Camp was "awesome" and he was initiated and knighted as a member of the UCF Marching Knights!!

AUGUST 14 - We've been oh so busy getting Ryan settled in to the dorm. Hopefully we are done running back & forth for a few days! We're about an hour away from UCF and the traffic etc. makes it seem like forever! The weather has been very hot and humid and we've been on the road so much that we haven't had a chance to enjoy the sites for ourselves! Looking forward to staying put for a couple days and maybe get some more of our own things settled! We're still wading around totes & boxes and can't wait to get it all settled! Seems like all we've done is "work"...is this really "retirement"??? Looking forward to more relaxing times ahead of us! Planning on taking some pictures soon to share with you!

AUGUST 8 - 10 - Our time in Valdosta was wonderful! Seems like the time just flew by, but we really enjoyed our time spent there! Pat made the most delicious deep fried turkey! We've been having a GREAT time here in Valdosta. Really enjoyed visiting with Cassie & Chase, and Ryan & PJ are having a great time together! And of course,  Cindy & Pat are as crazy as always!! Have been laughing our heads off and having a GREAT TIME! It's always a good time when we're with them!

Stopped and had a short visit with  Sheryl in Way Cross. Will see her again on Saturday in Valdosta. Arrived at Cindy & Pat's. Having a great time here in Georgia! Will give you an up-date of our time here later in the weekend.

AUGUST 7 - Didn't get a very early start on our day today, but more traveling again...almost to our first "real destination", Aunt Cindy & Uncle Pat's in Valdosta GA. We will be there tomorrow, (Thursday). Tonight we spent the night at Mistletoe State Park near Appling, GA. We have a beautiful site overlooking the lake. Went for a walk along the beach and Ryan saw the beautiful sunset. It's a beautiful setting and well worth the visit!

AUGUST 6 - Another day of travel. MH and all are doing well. Ryan had a great time helping dad navigate with our new GPS System! Amazing how it can help you out when you don't have a clue as to where you are! Great investment...thank you "kids"!! (And thanks to Randy for the demo and suggestion!)
Spent the night in a beautiful camping resort in Jackson Springs, NC. Beautiful Resort!! We highly recommend the Travel Resorts of America in Jackson Springs.

AUGUST 5 - Traveled most of the day...very hot & humid! Guess we'd better get used to this kind of weather!  Spent the night at Small Country Campground in Louisa, VA. Nice place and very quiet during the week. Enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool shortly after we arrived.

AUGUST 4 - WHEW!! What a day! We thought the packing would never stop...boy, are we hauling a load! Ryan's car is packed and we even have things stored in the shower & a few things still in boxes and totes...guess they will have to be sorted as we get time. Finally left Batavia around 7:30 p.m. (we're never on schedule!) Made a quick stop in Corning to see Grandma before we left New York State. Ended up "boon docking" at a rest area our first night. All is going well so far!

AUGUST 3 - This will hopefully be our last day to sort and finish up with the packing!! YIPEE!! The following day we "hit the road" & start our new adventure heading off to Florida to take Ryan to college. We are looking forward to spending some time in the Florida area while he gets settled in the dorm. Plan on visiting that area and also visiting some dear friends in Florida.

AUGUST - Saturday, we loaded up the last load to go with "the kids", Melanie & Rodney. Then we ventured off to Buffalo to spend some time with Melanie & Madison and did some last minute school shopping for Ryan. We had a nice time at the mall and a very nice dinner at Jack Astors.

"Where Oh Where did the month of July go?? It's been very hectic getting ready to "hit the road". So much sorting and packing has been done that we are even doing it in our dreams, or should I say "nightmares"! We've done pretty good especially since we've only had 2 weeks to get everything finalized! What a difference a week makes, but we're excited that Ryan has to be at UCF a week earlier for band camp. We're looking forward to "hanging out" and catching the first few home games so we can watch the half-time performances with our very own saxophone player! How exciting!

We spent the last few evenings in the area having dinner with some special friends. It was great to get together with them before we left the area.
