Where to Stay
Regardless of where you decide to stay Trip Advisor is a great website to check out what recent visitors have to say about a hotel or B&B.  Click here for the website:  tripadvisor.com. Type in whatever hotel or B&B you are interested in and most likely Trip Advisor will have rate information and reviews written by people who have stayed there recently. We have found these reviews to be fairly accurate and sometimes guests post photos they took which help out a lot as well.

Within Sausalito there are a number of places you can stay.

The wedding will be at the
Casa Madrona Hotel and Spa.  The rates are not cheap but they do have AAA and AARP promotional rates.  Please call Locke Loughran at (415) 332-0535 and ask for discounted hotel rooms for the Dougherty-Romolo wedding.

Hotel Sausalito is about a block away from Casa Madrona.  It is right on the quaint town square and is less than half a block away from where the ferry stop is located.

Alta Mira Bed and Breakfast is located up in the hills above Casa Madrona on Bulkley Avenue.  The general manager, Tom, is very friendly.  The restaurant is no longer full service but they do offer a continental breakfast and a wine and cheese reception in the evening.  And you can alwaysbut you can bring your own refreshments and enjoy an amazing view on the deck

The
Gables Inn is also located in the heart of Sausalito.  It is a bed and breakfast with nine rooms.

In Marin County there are more options:

San Rafael is in Marin and close to Sausalito and the Gerstle Park Inn looks nice.

Mill Valley is north of Sausalito along Route 101 and the
Aqua Hotel has good reviews on tripadvisor.com.

In San Francisco there are many options.  We have stayed at the
Hotel Rex which is just a few blocks off Union Square.  It was quiet and clean and had great access to Union Square and trolley/train to the rest of the city.

Both Hotel Rex and Aqua Hotel are Joie de Vivre hotels.  The chain has more options in the area including Tiburon (10 minutes from Sausalito) and more options in San Francisco.  Go to the
Joie de Vivre website to see all of their options for the area.

The
Grant Plaza near Chinatown was recommended by friends.

If you have a car staying in Berkeley is an option as well.  The
Berkeley Doubletree Hotel is located right on the marina and is quiet and pretty with easy access to the highways.
