Getting Around
Here is some information we have gathered on transportation to and around the Bay Area.  The underlined words are links to websites with more information. Let us know if you have any quesitons!

Airports
We recommend for those of you flying that you fly into either San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland Airport. Most carriers fly directly to both airports including Jet Blue and Southwest Airlines. (two of our favorites)

Once you are at the airport, there are multiple ways you can get from there to where you are staying.  You can rent a car at the airport, take a taxi, a shuttle, or the Bay Area Rapid Transportation (BART) system.

Car Rentals
Follow the links below for more information on car rentals at each airport:

Taxis
At both airports you can follow the signs to catch a cab outside the terminals.  Fares from SFO into San Francisco can start at $30.

Shuttle Services
There are various shuttle services at both airports.  A great option is the BayPorter Express.  Fares typically run between $20-30 and they serve booth SFO and the Oakland Airport.

For other options see the
Oakland Airport webpage or the SFO webpage.

BART
The
BART is a great option for getting to and away the airports and around the Bay Area.  It is a train system which runs approximately every 20 minutes from between approximately 5AM and midnight.  You can buy tickets at automated machines at each station.  Make sure you hold into your tickets!  You need them to get through the turnstile onto the platform and to get through the turnstile out of the station at your end destination.

From SFO, just follow the signs for BART and they will lead you directly to the train station.  You can buy tickets from machines just before you enter the platform.

At Oakland Airport, follow the signs to outside Terminal 1 to the middle platform for the
AIR BART.  It is a bus/shuttle that comes approximately every 15 minutes.  The ride is $3 and you will need exact change.  The AIR BART takes you directly to the Oakland Coliseum BART station.  You can buy tickets and board the train there for your desination.

The BART is a great way to get around San Francisco and the immediate Bay Area.  See
here for a map of the train system and click here to find out more information.

MUNI
One more way to get around if you are in San Francisco is the MUNI system.  It is a fairly inexpensive network of buses, trains, and street cars, and cable cars (!) that covers a good portion of San Francisco. On Sundays it even covers a portion of the Marin Headlands area.  MUNI does not cover the airport.  Maps for the MUNI system are available in most stores that sell maps for the area and at Cable Car Ticket Booths at Powell and Market streets, Hyde and Beach Streets, and Bay and Taylor.

Ferry
The ferry is also an option for getting around the area and can be a great chance to see the city and the surrounding area from the middle of the bay on a good weather day.

The Golden Gate Ferry service runs between the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco and Sausalito (where the wedding is) or Larkspur.
Click here for more details on this service.

There is also a ferry service that runs between Oakland's Jack London Square and multiple San Francisco locations including AT&T Ball Park (where the SF Giants play), Angel Island, Pier 39 (Fisherman's Wharf) and the Ferry Building.
