Adjusting to Life in Korea
Have you ever heard of Culture Shock?? You may not notice it at the time, but you sure realize it when it is over.

Before your departure, you will have a feeling of mixed excitement and fear.  This is normal. Upon arrival, you enter the "Honeymoon Phase", which lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. Everything is new, exciting and wonderful.  Then the reality kicks in - you realize things that you cannot get (usually food).  This grows until one day, you find yourself homesick.  DON'T stay in your apartment.  Get out and DO something!!  If you find yourself depressed, resist calling home, and call a new friend to go to a temple or a movie.

Living so far away from home is stressful at times.  You cannot be near family and friends in times of trouble.  You have to remember that they will survive without you.  All that you can do is email and make a phone call, and that is usually sufficient.

Your body will have to adjust to a new climate, new food, etc. This is not a big problem. In regards to food, my biggest word of advice is EXPERIMENT!! Try everything once, even if you think you'll hate it. You may surprise yourself!!  If not, you can say you did it!!
