I grew up close to "the bush" and spent many wonderful hours picking the wildflowers that were in abundance
near our home.
NOTE: Wildflowers are protected now and in most places one can't pick them anymore.
The everlasting daisy & fringe lily, sometimes known
as the fringed violet shown above were two of my all time favourites, and my bedroom was always adorned with them and all manner of other wildflowers.

In the original draft of this page, I had typed the words to the poem "My Country"
by Dorothea Mackellar,
but due to space restrictions I deleted it.
It's a beautiful poem about my country and one
that we learned when we were at school.  I have decided therefore to link to a site that has the poem itself, some interesting information about it and also a heap of Aussie pics and music.  Do visit the site because it would be a shame to miss such a beautiful portrait of Australia.
