WHO IS MAYA?
... More Background
As a child I used to play with my friends the terrible game of "Cowboys and Indians".  I was never a "cowboy" but always one of the "Indians".  Such hassles with the boys when they wanted me to be a "boy Indian" - I'd refuse and woe betide them if they DARE call me a Squaw!
Even then, I knew that was a degrading name.
I was always a female, and my job for our "side", would be
to race out from the bushes when someone was injured or dead even *smile*, with a little bag of medicine and I would promptly "heal" them.
Of course that meant our side always won (*smile*).
I'd then lead them back to our camp and we'd have a big
ceremony (complete with lighting some dead grass and leaves thanks to Dad's matches!)
Healing people, and a feeling of connection to the American Indian people, has been with me since childhood, and has never left me even to this day.
I guess that's why I feel so at home, and so drawn now as an
adult, to American Indian Spirituality and Culture, and
why I feel so connected to those American Indian friends that I have met on the net.  In my
American Indian page you will find many links that tell you more about the lives and history of the
American Indian Nations.

I was married for seven years to a very violent man before I was finally able to get the courage to leave.
On my
Domestic Violence page you will find many resources and information on DV for victims, survivors and workers.
I encourage you to spend some time visiting that page.
From that violent relationship came some good - I gained a wonderful son, who is almost 28 yrs old. (I tell people I had him when I was 10 *smile*).  He's a Leo Fire Dragon and has always brought me much joy.  He is engaged to a lovely young woman named Alison and they have a darling, precious little boy Riley who will be 1 yr old on 25/2/04.  I have begun to make Riley his
own web page and will add to it over time.
He is compassionate and has a strong sense of justice which has seen him get into some scrapes at times with bigoted people
but he stands firm in what he believes to be right.
In that respect he's just like his Mama.

I am in my 12th year of my current relationship and my partner had one daughter when we got together.  We have since had two more children.  They are all beautiful girls both physically and in character.  They bring us much joy and laughter.
You can read more about them on the next page.
The older two have worked hard to build their own web pages.
Not to be out done Imogen pestered and pestered me to "make her a web" so I have finally finished off a web page for her too.
You can find links to all their pages in my site map.
I'll try and remember to update about the girls, Riley and also this page from time to time.
