inner child

Margaret Grace
Here is large grassland
It's a fine, warm afternoon
You're sitting in the shade of a big tree
A soft, gentle breeze strokes your cheeks
There comes a little child off the back of the tree
About the age of five
This is the inner child in your heart
An old memory which has sunk deeply for a long time
Since the time you were a little child

The child seems to want to tell you something
Let's hold the child in your arms
And listen to everything the child wants to say
An innocent, bashful child with crystal-clear eyes
Long before you have grown up

The child says in a small voice:
'I'm scared'
'I'm sad'
'I'm lonely'
'Mum and Dad don't care for me'
The inner child in your heart
Still exists long after you have grown up
The child may try itself being a good kid
Not to bother the parents, repressing the desire
To be praised as a good kid by everyone
The inner child in your heart
Still there even though you have come of age
The child may not be fulfilled with affection
It may be disturbed by other siblings
Or parents may be too busy to look after you
Let's hug the child wholeheartedly
And tell the child 'I love you'
'You're not alone anymore'
'You're fine just as you are'
'You're my precious just as you are here'
This may be the inner child in your heart
Has been sleeping for a long time
Even after you have grown up
The child comes up to you suddenly
Just as young you were as a little child
