although separated by an ocean, i will be remaining in contact with my friends, new and old, through email newsletters and this webpage. as with anything, i believe, that is done in Christ's name, my mission work needs to encompass the support of many people. we all bring different gifts to this community.
the YASC program is set up in such a way that the DFMS pays for half of my year of service. i raise $8000, which will be dispersed in monthly stipends of $500 and also covers some other basic neccesities. the monthly stipend pays for my needs - food, etc... and also for ministry needs. i also have an account in the Diocese of Southwest Florida, that is used for any other costs, programs, ministries, etc... that need funding. this money has helped buy school supplies, science materials, and even candles for the church... the money also covers my mail service costs (1 dollars per pound) for materials sent from the States. if you feel called to donate to this ministry you may send a check made out to the Diocese of Southwest Florida YASC and send it to:

prayer support
"now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God"
I Corinthians 2:12
The Almonte Family - Kayra (6 years old), Kiara (10 years old) and Ridelfri (12 years old). The Almonte's have been in our school for three years. Their mother was just diagnosed with some debilitating disease that leaves her unable to work. The kids are living with an aunt. Before, they were able to walk to school, but now they need a bus - but can't afford to pay for school transportation. The three kids take public transportation (Which is far from safe OR comfortable for children traveling solo). We need approximately $690 (US) to pay their tuition and school transport fees so they can stay in the school.

The Bierd Family - ALex, (8) and Jenny (7). These two children left their old school because their mom separated from their dad. The dad recently stopped paying the tuition because he realized there is no chance of reconciliation with their mother. Their total is $200 for the rest of the year.

Sebastien (6), a first grader. Sebastien comes from a very poor family. He had a scholarship in the past, but his mother is very "uninvolved" in Sebastien's life and has failed to fill out the scholarship forms this year. She's only made 2 payments the entire year. Sebastien is thriving with his teacher, and we'd like to see him be able to stay at least until the end of the school year. His bill is $215.

Anyelo (11). Anyelo lives with his mom and little sister. His father stopped paying child support a long time ago, and while the current government is trying to enforce child support from father's, it has yet to take affect with Anyelo. We see the effects of his "fatherlessness" in the classroom, where he struggles with a male teacher because he is unfamiliar with male leadership and influence. However, he's a sweet and loving kid who takes good care of his little sister, Amada. His bill is: $200.
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR KIDS!
below are some scholarship requests for some of our students. although tuition at La Anunciacion is "only" $20 a month, there are many families who struggle to keep their children enrolled. these are extreme cases and we need all the help we can get! please contact me if you are interested in supporting any of these children. remember, even a small contribution will help!
prayer support is just as important as financial and material support. i've learned the hard way that prayer is an integral part of mission work and without it, life isn't always the easiest or the most peaceful. please lift up this ministry in your prayers!
