Physical Description

Standing 5'10" with a slim, elegant physique, the younger goldrider of Mirror Lake is hard not to notice. Her honey-blond hair falls in loose, radiant curls down to mid-back, and her bright hazel eyes glint and flash with every dramatic gaze. With softly tanned skin, high cheekbones and seductively curved lips, Catlyn seems to have been blessed with natural grace and a near-flawless beauty.

She is only too aware of this fact, of course. All her life people have been telling her that she was beautiful, and she's grown quite accustomed to it. She moves and dresses very much like someone who enjoys being the center of attention, and always carries herself with poise and confidence. Catlyn loves to dress in vivid colors and flattering gowns, and she has a very soft, feminine style.

Personality

If being weyrwoman was all about image, Catlyn would be perfect for the position. She's beautiful, outgoing, confident, charming and regal. Important guests are always made to feel extremely welcome when she's around. Unfortunately, there's a lot more to it than that, and the rest of it she still needs to work on a bit.

As a student, Catlyn is quite intelligent and perfectly capable of learning everything she needs to know. She just doesn't put a lot of effort into it. She finds verses and research extremely dull, and usually does anything she can to get out of having to sit in a room with a bunch of dusty hides. She also tends to be rather arrogant and self-centered, and even though she is a generally friendly person, those negative qualities can sometimes get in the way of her ability to do her job. She can become too focused upon her self and her own desires to notice the needs of the other people around her.

As already mentioned, Catlyn loves attention and adoration. Being alone is something she has a very difficult time doing. She is extremely flirtatious with men, especially bronzeriders, and has a reputation for having bedded a rather large number of them. The few relationships she's had have been superficial and short-lived, but there's nearly always someone in her weyr with her.

Catlyn's emotions are firey and intense. When she's happy, the whole room knows it, but when she's angry... look out. When in a bad mood, she has a very quick temper and doesn't seem to have any qualms about letting it loose on some poor unsuspecting victim. She also has a bit of a rebellious streak, and can be a bit impudent with the other riders. All except Nalia, whom she seems to hold a great deal of respect for.

Background History

Catlyn was born into a wealthy holder family at Fort as the second of five children. Her father was a jewel merchant, and they lived a pretty luxurious life. Catlyn never had to do any real work in her childhood, and since she usually got what she wanted, she was rather spoiled. As a teenager, she began to get a taste for rebellious behavior in an effort to add some excitement into her life, which naturally concerned her parents a great deal. They had a reputation to maintain after all.

Still, Catlyn never got into any real trouble, although she did spark a few rumors relating to promiscuous behavior. When a rider from Mirror Lake came to Fort Hold in search of candidates for the new queen egg, Catlyn was picked to go back with them. She couldn't have been happier, of course, as weyr life seemed much more suitable to her than the repressive conservativism of the hold. When she impressed gold Lillith, she thought she must have been the luckiest girl in the world. Becoming a weyrwoman had always been a dream of hers, and now she had it.

Little did she realize it would actually require work.

Lillith is an average sized gold with elegant proportions. Her hide is a very pale gold that darkens to a deeper shade on her legs and tail. One duty Catlyn never slacked off on was the care of her dragon, and it shows in Lillith's gleaming and flawless hide.

Like her rider, Lillith enjoys the company of others and is quite friendly and charming. However, she possesses none of Catlyn's selfish pride or her firey temper. Lillith prefers everything in the world to be peaceful and harmonious, and she is quite thoughtful and intelligent. Always the picture of elegance, even when feeding she is dainty and graceful.
