Name: C'ren (Pronounced Se-ren)
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Birthday: 5.15.1256
Birthplace: Ista Weyr
Location: Mirror Lake Weyr
Occupation/Rank: Wingleader of the Second Wing/Bronzerider/Fishercrafter

Physical Description

C'ren is an average sized man, standing 5'11". He has a lean body with very muscular arms, a thin waist and short, stocky legs. He has an obvious 'roll' in his stride due to being on a ship for some turns of his life. He keeps his white-blond hair medium length, with a few waves in it. He has piercing dark blue eyes that don't miss much. His skin is permanently tan and somewhat weathered, though he has even skin tone. He has scars on his hands and upper arms from hauling in nets and gutting fish. He is a master with a short blade and carries one with him at all times.

Personality

C'ren is a quiet man, taking after his mother, and a very hard worker. He is fair, but pushes people to their potential. He pushes himself harder, occasionally to the detriment of his health. He has to be monitored by his dragon to make sure he gives himself enough rest. He makes a point in learning anything and everything he can about any task assigned to him. He isn't arrogant and doesn't have a problem asking questions. He is a phenomenal judge of character and has been spot on with his opinions of people. Being a fisherman, C'ren is also very patient. He can be thoughtful and kind, but he does have a temper. It takes an enormous transgression to make him lose it, but when he does, look out! He is strong and has been in a few brawls, always ending up the winner. He is intelligent, but doesn't make a point of it. He does not throw rank around, but expects instant obedience when he gives orders. He has a sense of humor, but makes few jokes, believing dragonriding a very serious (and dangerous) profession. He is friendly with most anyone and has found Mirror Lake's egalitarian society much to his liking.

Background History

Ciren (pronounced Seer-an) loves the water. He grew up in the main Fishercraft Hall on the eastern coast of Ista Island. He was apprenticed to his father at 12 turns and made senior journeyman before being searched at 20 turns. His father, Coranile, was first mate to the Master Fishercrafter and Ciren saw little of him until he began his apprenticeship. His mother, Meerlarla, was a quiet, competent woman with healing skills, though she never had teaching at the Healer Hall.

Ciren's search was typical, however unexpected. The rider, from Ista Weyr, located Ciren just getting ready to ship out for a month long haul. Ciren's father was as surprised as Ciren was to be searched. Coranile was pleased and proud that a dragon would go to such trouble for his son and encouraged him to accept, especially as his brother, Ciren's uncle, had a dragonrider in his family. Ciren, though skeptical that a dragon would find him worthy, nonetheless, accepted search and spent the next turn at the Weyr.He didn't impress his first two stands and was going to travel home after that, but the rider that searched him persuaded him to stay for another stand. At that one, Ciren, now C'ren, impressed bronze Clorenth.

C'ren and Clorenth's weyrlinghood was uneventful, except for C'ren's unusual ability to judge people and Clorenth's love of water. Their bond was a deep one and they learned quickly. At graduation, C'ren was tapped into a higher altitude wing with the Weyrlingmaster's compliments. C'ren and Clorenth's ability in the sky and fighting thread became renowned, though C'ren's blooding gave him a scar from right hip to knee. The fact that their first injury was 'after' weyrlinghood, (and the score was from no fault of theirs) is a source of pride for both man and dragon. Clorenth was unhurt and C'ren feels lucky that it was only he that sustained the injury.

It was an unresolved disagreement that motivated C'ren to ask for a transfer. Clorenth caught the junior gold in her maiden flight and the Weyrleader did not approve, being smitten with the junior Weyrwoman. The politics became too much for C'ren, and hearing that Mirror Lake did not follow such traditional values, requested his transfer which was granted quickly by the Weyrleader, happy to rid himself of the competition.

Dragon Info

Name: Clorenth
Color: Bronze
Age: 10

Description

Clorenth as an average bronze, but with a tremendous wingspan. He is quick in the air, but no more than most bronzes. He has considerable stamina and can last a full fall (and a long mating flight). He is a dark bronze, with swirls of lighter goldish bronze under his belly.

Clorenth is quiet, but not shy. He has more of a brown's temperament, but considerable intelligence. He loves the water (probably influenced by his rider) and acts as playful as a weyrling when he can swim. He was extremely pleased to move to Mirror Lake Weyr when he saw the size of the lake and the Weyr's nearness to the sea. His bond with his lifemate is deep and strong, though the bronze worries about C'ren sometimes. He has to watch his rider carefully so that C'ren doesn't overextend himself all the time.

Firelizard Info

Name: Storm
Color: Blue

Description

A small blue firelizard the exact color of the sea after a storm. C'ren found Storm abandoned on the beach just south of the marina where the ships were anchored. With no first hand knowledge of firelizards, he inadvertently impressed the little hatchling when he fed it a couple of fingertails that were in the shallows nearby. With help from his mother, he trained the blue to carry messages out to the fisherman, though Storm doesn't always go or come back promptly. It was deduced (later) that Storm was most likely from a green's clutch, not a golds. Storm can be generally found lounging somewhere on top of Clorenth.
