I was woken up by by tent partner several times during the night because I was snoring! We got up and soon breakfast was ready. We had bacon, cereal, and "margarined" toast. To drink we had orange juice. After breakfast and cleanup, I took my camera and badges and went on a self-directed tour of the CJ grounds. I met boys and girls of varying ages from across Canada, although the majority were from Ontario. I took a few photos, as well, including a couple of our camp site, the X-centre, and a spectacular shot of a cliff overlooking Malpeque Bay. (To view my photos, click on the link at the bottom.) In meeting various people and trading badges with them, I improved my social skills, something that I was somewhat lacking.
After supper, our troop proceeded to the mainstage area of the CJ grounds, where opening ceremonies would take place. Some venturers selected from a contest commenced the opening ceremonies, including a girl from London. This part of opening included picking the official mascot for CJ. Then, PEI Premier Pat Binns and National Scouts Commissioner Sam Elsworth spoke. Following that, New Brunswick-born "rising pop star" Annick Gagnon performed a concert.
