CJ'01 was an event that brought together 15,000 Scouts in one place for a week in July 2001 to meet other Scouts from across Canada and beyond, test their skills at a wide variety of challenging, yet fun activities, and of course, to trade badges. Most of the Scouts were from Canada, but there were also some from the United States and a number of other countries. The event was the 10th Canadian National Jamboree, which took place at Cabot Beach Provincial Park in Prince Edward Island. This is the second time a CJ has been held on this site, as the Canadian Jamboree in 1977 also took place at Cabot Beach. The jamboree opened on July 6 and closed on July 13, 2001. Cabot Beach is located on the north shore of the island, on Malpeque Bay. I was one of the 15,000 Scouts who attended CJ'01. Although I am not in Scouts anymore, CJ'01 stands in my mind as one of my best memories of my Scouting years, not to mention my adolescence. Here on this website is my chronicle of CJ'01, from my years of selling popcorn to raise money for the trip, to a day-by-day synopsis of the trip.
