Sailor Moon started its evolution with a manga called Codename: Sailor V. It centered on Mina's adventures as the crime-fighting heroine Sailor V. Most of Sailor V's powers involved the moon, as at this point Sailor Moon had not yet been invented. In the anime, Sailor V is often made reference to, but her adventures are not a topic of the show except in flashbacks. |
Mina has existed longer than any of the other Sailor Moon characters, ever since Naoko Takeuchi began writing the Sailor V manga and thereby gave birth to the Sailor Moon universe. And for as long as she's been around, the "goddess of love and beauty" has been chasing (and being chased by) cute guys. But whether it's just insinuations, meaningless kisses, flirting, or an ages old love story, Mina has never been able to find that one true love. Find out how close she's come... |

The Awakening of the Original Sailor Senshi "Codename wa: Sailor V" is a manga (japanese motionless picture entertainment, or a comic book ^^) by Naoko Takeuchi. It was a predecessor to Naoko's most famous work, Bishojou Senshi Sailor Moon manga. While creating the story, Naoko based Minako's character after her own self. The story begins when Minako, a 13-year-old tom boy with a bit of a 'tude, is in her gym class practicing a gymnastics routine. As she is about to finish off, she lands right on top of an unsuspecting white cat! Then the cat ran off... Later that day, the white cat appeared in Minako's room. Minako was quite shocked when the white cat spoke and introduced himself as Artemis. He gave her a crescent shaped compact, and when she opened it, she realized that the two of them were floating in space! Artemis showed her the Earth, which was her duty to protect, as well as her home planet from her past life, Venus, and her castle, Magellan, floating above the planet. Then Artemis took out a special pen, and a voice began to speak out of it, telling Minako she had a specail mission to fulfill. Minako is overwhelmed and seems to get dizzy and begins to fall... Minako woke up thinking she had had a strange dream. But the next day Artemis followed her to school, along with the same special pen. When Artemis saw Higashi-sempai, a handsome young man Minako had a crush on, he recognized him. Then the two of them saw Higashi drain one of Minako's classmate's energy, and then he turned into a monster! Minako then used the special pen to transform into Sailor V for the first time. She destroyed Higashi-sempai, who was actually an agent from the Dark Kingdom, Narkissos, using her compact and shouting "Crescent Beam!" Afterwards, Minako is a bit sad that she had to kill Higashi-sempai... but Artemis comforts her. He also shows her how to re-charge her crescent moon compact by placing it in the moonlight. Minako now has a lot to get used to: a new life of fighting crime and the Agents of the Dark Kingdom... |
