Erin's South Australia Journals - 12-02-02

Today I worked on getting journals ready for our website while Glenn spent the day car shopping. It was supposed to rain for the next 4 days, and the sky clouded over while I worked the morning away. But the journal work was coming right along, and I got to respond to a few emails as well, which felt good. We'd had no time to work on these chores for the past 6 weeks, and were so far behind and out of touch that it was starting to really bother me! I'm a workaholic, I guess. (easy for me to say that while I'm on vacation for a year!!!)

I got most of the journals edited and formatted before noon, being careful to transfer the finished journals in groups to our website, as I wasn't certain when the computer might kick me offline. And without our host to put in her password, I'd be done with webwork for the day. Sure enough, right around 1:30pm the computer clicked off the internet, and I was left to simply reformat the remaining journals and wait for the host to come home. I took the opportunity to shower and head out for lunch, as well as doing a little window shopping in Glenelg, a cute little beachside town.

When I returned from lunch, the host was home but not in a great mood due to some dispute with the telephone company. I guess these things are the same the world over!
Glenn arrived not long after, wanting to make a few phone calls to some of the car ads in the paper and to take me out to show me a few of the models he'd been considering. We talked with the host a bit first, then headed out for a quick tour of the nearby used car lots - they closed at 5pm!!!

We saw a few that looked ok, but most of the cars at the dealerships were way overpriced compared to the ones in the paper, so tomorrow we'd follow up by seeing a few of those. When we returned to the house, our host's sons had arrived to help assemble the new BBQ she'd picked up, so we chatted with her and them and played with the dog while waiting for dinner. In between, I managed to get her to sign me online again so I could do a bit more web work. We ate a late dinner of spaghetti, then I spent the whole evening working on getting a few pages created for the site. I managed to get the remaining northern Europe journals online, as well as several Kenya ones at long last.

I finally signed off around 1:30am, exhausted and ready for sleep.
