Glenn's Journal for 10-15-02 - Amsterdam

Tuesday morning was our chance to sleep in private. We did have to get up for breakfast as it was included in the room price. We went downstairs to the restaurant to see what "breakfast included" meant. (Most places it means bread, jam, and coffee or tea) Wow, were we surprised. Breakfast today meant eggs, toast, cereal, orange juice, ham, and other meats. A "real" breakfast and did we over indulge. We were definitely full when we left.
Today included completing other chores along with seeing some more of Amsterdam. We spent some time at the apotheke getting the anti-malaria pills before continuing our search for an internet cafe or photo shop. We stopped into a few other shops but again with no luck. We finally stopped for a boat trip around the canals of Amsterdam. The boat tour provided a little more insight into some of the sites but wasn't the best we had had. After the boat tour we found ourselves back at the internet cafe working on the website for a few more hours. Actually Erin worked on the website while I responded to some e-mails and did some more research on accommodations in Nairobi.
We stopped early enough to enjoy a decent meal before strolling through the red-light district on the way back to the hotel.
The other thing we did do today was check into other accommodations in Amsterdam for our last night. We found Anna hostel which had dorm rooms for 17 Euro a person including bed linen and towels. We agreed that we would stay there tomorrow night.
Our 2nd visit to Amsterdam didn't have such lovely weather as the first, when this photo was taken
