Glenn's Journal for 11-5-02  Cape Town

Today is chore day as we desperately need to do laundry. We started the day putting a load of laundry in before heading out for breakfast. The News Cafe was recommended for breakfast and it was only a few minutes walk from the hostel. After breakfast we stopped into a grocery store, as the hostel has a self service kitchen, before returning to the hostel to finish our laundry.

In the afternoon we headed out the other direction for the CatWalk internet cafe to work on the website. The cafe had the fastest speed for only 10 rand ($1) per hour. The cafe was so popular that they had a waiting line for the computers while the internet cafe across the street was empty (it had a slower speed even though it cost only 90 cents (9 cents U.S.) per hour. The manager was very helpful as he allowed us to hook up our equipment to his main frame and uploaded photos and journals, including resizing photos for us. Erin worked diligently to upload the data until the website would not accept any of the data. The system must have been down or something!!! We finally retired from the internet cafe around 7:30 pm where we returned to the hostel for the braii (barbeque) that they have on Tuesday nights. After dinner and drinks along with meeting other travellers staying at the hostel, we called it a night. We still needed to make plans for the rest of the week, including booking any day trips that we would be interested in.
