Dear, dear Class of '82
Being late has its advantages, I just read all of your updates and enjoyed each. So I guess turnabout is fair paly. Here's mine.
This has been a divided year for me. From Sept., 2005 - June, 2006 I was on Home Assignment in Wisconsin and then from June until now, I've been back in Austria teaching English as a Second Language in TEAM churches as an outreach. We don't have as many people attending the classes as we have had in the past so we're wondering what our next move is. Should we explore different advertising methods, different courses, different what?? Should we stop offering English all together? If we do, what do we do with Pat Foster!?!? These are weighty questions - at least from my point of view!! :) I'd appreciate your prayers for direction for us. We want what God wants but we're not sure at this point what that is.
While I was in the States, I found a place in Sebring, FL that I will probably retire to someday. I am only 58 (I know some of you think I must be 108 at least by now but ain't so!) Since the US government so kindly raised the retirement age to 66 for my birth year, I still have 8 years to go. My health is good and I enjoy teaching, as I always have, so that's OK with me. You might wonder why I've already found a place to retire. Well, when you're only in the States once every 4 years, you have to do your research when you can. So I did.
I'm looking forward to finally visiting Finland this coming summer - June, 2007. I have my ticket already and I can hardly wait! I told all my Finnish friends that I'd get there one day. Lord willing, that time has finally come. Speaking of visiting other countries, only Sherry has ever come to Austria (and then I was on Home Assignment - rats!!). When are you coming to see me? Austria is a graet place to visit, as well as live. I'd love to show you around and get to visit with you individually. It's been a long time since we've seen each other.
I pray that each of you will experience the love of the Lord and rejoice in the wonder and awe of the Lord's incarnation this Christmas time and all through the year.
Much love and fond memories of YOU, Pat (alias Miss Foster)
