Dear Class of 82,

I just viewed the Morrison 50th Anniversary DVD that I received today.  Things sure have changed in the lat twenty years,...as we all have also.  Kind of wish we could have gone to the reunion at MCA, but I thoroughly enjoyed our class reunion in Colorado Springs.  Wish more of your could be there.  I wondered what it would be like to see everyone,...whether we would be able to recognize each other,...how we would relate to each other after all these years...But it was like being with family again.  It's been a long time I had a good laugh among friends.  We had so much to share, so much to catch up on, and so much wiser than our carefree days at MCA.  (It might not have felt carefree at the time, but compared to now, I certainly have enough care of my own.)

Speaking of cares, Anita and I received a special delivery on December 27, 2002.  The Lord put into our care a beautiful daughter by the name of Esther Noelle Lam.  She weighed 7 lbs, 9 oz., measured 20 inches long, born at 8:19am.  Anita had to have a C-section because Esther was breeched.  I had the opportunity to watch the doctor pull Esther out.  It was so surreal as the doctor said, "It's a girl!"  It's still so surreal.  Is this really my child?  Do I really get to keep her?  Take her home?  It's real, and Esther cries often and poops often to let her daddy know that it's real.  And Daddy is proud that Esther cries heartily and poops so well.  And we are thankful to the Lord for answering our prayers for a child.

Anita Stafford (Class of 87) and I were married in 1995, and planned to start having children a year after marriage.  Well, that stretched into six years.  We went to see fertility specialists who could not give us real good answers as to why we were not having children.  In early 2002, we had just about given up and were taking steps towards adoptions, when, lo and behold, Anita became pregnant.  All I can say is that we had many people:  family and friends from church who have been praying for us.  And it's all God's timing.  Why he wanted us to wait so long...we have yet to find out.  But Esther is our special gift...and hopefully, we will be blessed with more.  See attached pictures.

As for what I am doing now (besides changing diapers), I am working as a civil engineer for a small consulting firm, cox and Dinkins, Inc. in Columbia, South Caroline.  To refresh your memory, I moved down drom Hampton, VA in 1990 to begin studies at Columbia International University.  I graduated from there in 1995 with a Master of Divinity and landed a position with Cox and Dinkins.  I received my PE (Professional Engineer) license in 2000, so now I am to sign my projects, which also means that I am liable to be sued.  Higher achievements also bear higher responsibilities, so be careful what you want to achieve. :)  In addition to engineering duties, I also play the role of IT administrator at the Cox and Dinkins, overseeing the company network, workstations, etc.  Outside of work, I'm learning the role of fatherfood and being very involved with our church.  Our greatest joy (and greatest heartache sometimes) is working in the youth ministry of our church.  Biggest project this year will be taking the youth to the Youth for Christ DCLA conference in Cincinnati this summer.

Hope to see more of you at our next class reunion.
