Hi from Down Under!

Received on 20 April 2002

Sherry sent me the site for the class a couple of weeks ago, and I was thrilled to be able to catch up on who's doing what in 2002!

Then Sheri invited me to write something also.  I feel a bit " out of it" since I didn't actually graduate from Morrison, but the memories are great, and I feel privileged to be able to share with you all these years later!

After I left Taiwan in 79, I continued my schooling in Australia.  After completing a one year nursing course, I qualified as an enrolled nurse in July 85 and married a week later.  My husband Tom, worked as a carpenter with the South Australian government until he left as a result of back injury, occuring before we met.

Fast forwarding to 2002, I am now a full time wife and mother to Alexandra (15) Georgina (13) Joshua (12) and Thomas (10).  I nurse with a nursing agency a couple times a year in order to keep my nursing registration current, but I also assist a sports chaplain with secretarial work.  He was a chaplain at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and also part of the Australian Paralympic Team as Team Chaplain.  Since the Games, his role has increased, and so has the part I play to support he and his wife in their full time sports ministry.

My husband now works as a sales assistant at Bunnings, a large hardware store selling power tools etc.

We are very involved with our church of about 200 members.  I play the flute each Sunday while Georgina is a lead singer, and Joshua plays the base guitar.  We count it a privilege to serve our Great God.

Besides being a mother, I would say that my biggest accomplishment in life is riding my push bike froom Adelaide to Sydney (1500 km) with a group of 35 other cyclists, averaging 150 - 200 km each day.  We raised money to assist the production of the Bible in Auslan - Australian Sign Language.  I have been involved with Bike for Bibles for about 10 years, firstly as a road support crew and then as a rider.  Bike for Bibles raises money for literacy projects around the world, and I am looking forward to the time I reach heaven and meet people who have found the Lord as a result of learning to read using a simplified Bible story, telling of the love of the Lord.

Well, I think that's all for now!  I'd love to hear from you.  My address is
alldaze@chariot.net.au.

I may not see any of you on this earth again, but for those of you in God's family, I'll look forward to catching up with you in heaven!
