Class of 82

Received on 2 March 2006

Shannon and the kids and I now live in Anderson, SC.  It's in the northwest corner of the state, what is known around here as the Upstate.  It is truly beautiful with rolling hills that grow up into the Blue Ridge mountains and lots of lakes and rivers.  We moved here when I left the Air Force in the Fall of 2004, and we love the idea that we may never move again.

I joined a group of orthopaedic surgeons that is split between Anderson and Seneca, a town about 30 min away on the other side of CLEMSON.   Yes, we are deep in Tiger country here, though there are plenty of UGa and USC fans around, as well.  My partners in the other office take care of the Clemson players and we all share in taking care of the athletes from the several other small colleges in the area.

This is pretty much the perfect setting for us.  As Shannon says, we have Target AND Wal-Mart here, as well as the small town things that make this area unique.  Atlanta and Charlotte are each about 2 hours away, so we see her parents and sisters much more than we did in VA.  The kids are active in karate, swimming, church activities, and of course school, which we still do at home.  There are so many ways to educate our children now.  The challenge is to find the best fit.  Shannon tutors in a home school co-op called "Classical Conversations" that meets once a week and thoroughly loves it.  For those who were keeping up, Katherine is 14 now, Cameron 12, Sheridan 10, and Lauren will be 9 in just 2 weeks.  It's a wild ride sometimes...

I have a great job with partners who have the same goals and concerns that I do.  I have an office staff that is just about perfect.  They work well together, they care about the patients, and they even get along well!  I truly could not have found a better place to be.  God has blessed us far beyond what we deserve, that's for sure.

I pray for God's blessing on you this year.  Please look us up if you are anywhere close.  We live just 15 minutes from I-85, and we have a guest room that is usually unoccupied.  Let us know when you'll be around.
