From an email I received from Susan after our mini grand reunion:
"It was great to see you, felt like only a few months or so since the last time we'd met, not 15 years."
The feeling was mutual. The kitsch opening to our reunion was meeting up at the Memorial of Lady Diana & Dodi's at the Harrods on the evening of the 6th - spent the evening chatting over dinner; visited the Tate Modern as dessert; went back to the hotel and chatted almost till sunrise. We remembered just about everyone in our time at Morrison except for one seemingly transparent Frenchman - Benoit whom we remembered just last week. What's the name of that good looking French girl with bad breath???
I couldn't believe that Susan actually remembered how Mom Bear had so wickedly refused to let us watch the last episode of "Solid Gold"! No, Susan hasn't pardoned the old lady for her sin yet! Alas, women do have long memories!
Just being able to pick up our friendship without any effort made me happy. The wonderful sense of continuity from our collective past was very fulfilling. The next day, we dragged our sleepy bodies to the London Eye (The world's highest observation wheel.) for a fantastic 30 minute flight at 10 a.m. since our reservations could not be changed. The views of London were amazing at 450 ft above the river Thames.
We did take a two shot but it didn't turn out properly. (The truth is Susan wouldn't let me post it, and I was very cross with her for days!)
Shall we have a mini reunion in Glasgow on 7 June 2003 at Susan's Wedding? Let's start planning......
