Timothy Estell
After Morrison I attended college in Michigan, graduated with a degree in computer science and took a job in Chicago. In 1987, I decided my life needed some adventure and became an Air Force Officer, getting stationed in Sicily, England, and Maryland. After eight years and many adventures, I left the Air Force to become a software engineer working on government contracts in Maryland.
For the last five years I've been with SAIC and enjoy the work, my co-workers, and the job. Along the way I've picked up an MS in Administration from Central Michigan University and an MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. Currently I'm the Software Branch Manager in the Real-Time Hardware Division. For any other computer people out there, we don't do as much embedded systems development as you might think - most of our work is C, C++, nd Java development on UNIX.
All but one of the pictures I've sent are of Kim and I. We were married on July 8, 2001. We plan to buy a house here in Columbia, Maryland and start a family. Kim teaches for the public schools, currently kindergarten. We met at our church, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia. We hope to visit Taiwan in a few years so she can see all the places I've talked about. Of course a lot of changed and it doesn't look at all like it did in 1982.
If you met me today you'd recognize me and wouldn't think much had changed. I'm still fascinated by computers (mostly Linux these days) and usually quiet. But I'm not as shy as I used to be and have more confidence about what I know, what' I'm doing now, and where I plan to be in the future.
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone else and reading what they've been doing. It's hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since we graduated.
