This is the calendar of
forthcoming VCCCK events, and stories and photos of past events. We normally have a Sunday Outing every
second month, alternating with a Thursday night Social, which usually
takes place at the Nairobi Club. Every year, we also organize the
Annual Run, which takes us away from Nairobi. In 2000, we went
to Naro Moru River Lodge, at the foot of Mount Kenya. In addition, we occasionally go for a Classic Run, which takes a few cars for a week-end's driving fun (6 to 800 kms in a week-end)
EVENTS CALENDAR
Sunday 13th May 2001. Economy Run to Gilgil.
This run will be held on Sunday 13th May and will start at the Mobil petrol station on Limuru
road opposite City Park. Check in time will be 9.30. a.m. for a 10.00 a.m. start. The run will be in
the form of an economy trial. The winner will be the vehicle which uses the least fuel between
Nairobi and Gilgil. The fuel tanks of each vehicle will be sealed after filling, the seal must be
intact at the end of the run. There is an average speed set for the whole run and it is possible that
a regularity check will be made at Naivasha. This means that your average speed will be checked
up to that point and it should correspond as closely as possible to the overall average set for the
whole course. In order that you do not get bored there will be a few questions on the route and
some general knowledge questions to be answered as well.
The run will end at a petrol station in Gilgil where each seal will be checked, the tank then
filled to find out how much fuel has been used. After refuelling we will proceed to the Gilgil
Club which is opposite Pembroke House School just outside Gilgil. Lunch will be provided by
the Gilgil Club at 400.00 Ksh per person. I am sure they will put on a good spread.
