The witness of Isaiah and John the Baptist further proves that Jesus Christ, though a man on earth, was in truth, God on earth;

3.  The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4.  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5.  And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.  -  Isaiah 40:3-5

1.  In those days came
John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2.  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3.
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
-  Matt. 3:1-3

1.  The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2.  As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  -  Mark 1:1-3

4.  As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying,
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6.  And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.  -  Luke 3:4-6

In 3 of the 4 gospels, the very words of Isaiahs’ prophecy directly refer to the work and words of John the Baptist.  Therefore of whom was John the Baptist speaking when he said “ Prepare ye the way of the Lord? “.  John was speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ who is God even though He was a man on earth.  Moreover, Isaiah speaks of a highway for our God.  What is the name of that God for whom the way was being prepared?  The name of Jesus Christ.  There is no other Lord God or God/man of whom the prophet Isaiah and John the Baptist are speaking about or referring too.  Another scriptural reason is because in Matthew 3:15 and John 1:28-29, during the time when John was baptizing, Jesus made His presence in the midst of John and the people to whom John was baptizing and preaching;

13. Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
-  Matt. 3:13

28.  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29.  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  -  John 1:28-29

Moreover, in Johns’ gospel account is a second record of Jesus appearing after John the Baptists’ preaching.   Take special note of the description which John gives Jesus;

29.  The next day John seeth
Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30.  This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.  -  John 1:29-30

John the Baptist also confirms the prophecy of Isaiah with these words to the Jewish people;

19.  And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
23.  He said,
I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. -  John 1:19 & 23

In conclusion, from the testimony of John the Baptist and the prophecy of Isaiah, the scriptures provide clear proof that Jesus Christ was in truth God even though He was a man on earth.  Even the very name, Jesus Christ, clearly proves this to be truth.
