( E )    GODS’  WORD

Within the holy, spiritual instruction of Gods’ Word is provided the evidence that His very Word is the means by which when studied, the child of God is made able to discern between what is good and what is evil, what God approves and what He does not approve.  In doing so, the Christian obtains the means to provide righteous judgement and not a faulty judgement based only on
what appears to be real and true;

7.  And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8.  And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9.
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10.
And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.  -  1 Kings 3:7-10

13.  For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14.  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.  -  Hebrews 5:13-14

In 1 Kings, the scriptures provide the example of young King Solomon as he requests and petitions God to have understanding and the ability of discernment concerning what things are good and what are bad in order that he may correctly and rightly judge Gods’ people.  In the book of Hebrews, the writer instructs that by means of the word of righteousness, the person can exercise their senses to be able to discern both what is good and what is evil.  The word of righteousness is the Word of God and the ability of that Word can enable the people of God to know what is good, holy and approved of God and what is evil, bad and not approved by God.  The ability of discernment is certainly, without question, a necessity to keep and protect the child of God from falling prey to people, spiritual experiences, false prophets and false Christians which deceptively appear to be Christian and of God when in reality they are not, but rather are reprobate.  The scriptures provide these instructions for Gods’ people;

2.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  -  Romans 12:2

8.  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9.  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10.  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.  -  Eph. 5:8-10

17.  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.  -  Eph. 5:17

When Gods’ people know and understand His Word then we acquire the ability of discernment Gods’ way in that we now are capable of proving what things are approved and acceptable to God.  With Gods’ Word we can know what is good and the perfect will of God and therefore, knowing those things will cause us to be able to know and differentiate from that which is evil and in opposition to the good and perfect will of God.
