The perfect Corner

- First obvious point is to approach with the appropriate speed.

- Next when you reach your braking point, brake hard and late.

-
Ease off the brakes slightly but DONT come off them totally.

(The reason for not coming off the brakes is do with
weight transfer. You must keep your weight on the front wheels to help with their grip and turn in ability. If you let off the brakes there will be less weight on the front tryes and therefore less grip on the front tyres. The result will be Understeer!! And thats is the last thing you want. )

-
While holding the brakes on lightly turn in slowly at first then as quick as you want after that. Trying to clip the apex point of the curve.

- Now once you have "made" the turn, come off the brakes and lightly apply accelerator

( You must come on to the accelrator at this point to send the car's weight to the back of the car and prevent oversteer. This can only be achieved if you keep the accelerator on lightly. If you have an especially fast car then the lighter the better otherwise your big ass engine will send too much to the rear end and the wheels will spin. )
(You may have heard of
lift-off oversteer and it is exactly what it says on the tin. A this point if you lift off the accelerator the weight will then equalise over the car and therevfore there will be decreased grip on the rear = oversteer)

- Now as you gain more grip apply more gas and thats it you have nailed it.

Now if your thinking or finding that you dont need to brake while turning in then simply your approach speed is not fast enough. If however your finding that you just get loads of understeer on the turn in then you must approach slower of brake earlier.

Most important thing is to learn to brake hard and late, ease off the brakes but NEVER come off them completely while you turn in. If you think about where you want the weight of the car. On the front tryres when your turning and on the back when you have made the turn.

REMEMBER IF IN TROUBLE JUST SHIFT WEIGHT TO THE TYRES THAT ARE SKIDDING.
The reason most people crash and spin out is because they come into a corner too quickly and then panic and do the TWO worst things possible -
BRAKING HARD OR LIFTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR
NEVER EVER BRAKE OR COME OFF THE ACCELERATOR WHEN YOU HAVE MESSED UP!

Left Foot Brakin???

This is a technique used mostly by rally drivers to quickly alternate between gas and braking. So in other words just quicker ways of shifting weight of the car quickly. hey use this because every second counts and by doing this they can take corners quicker by quickly shifting weight to where they need the weight.

Inertia Drift

THE ULTIMATE DRIVING SKILL - This technique is used by rally drivers very well. There are 2 ways of going fast round a corner either by keeping the car at the very edge of its grip, the other is to drift round a corner. Now with drifing you approach quicker than you normally would and cause the car to oversteer and drift around the corner using the accelerator and steering to balance the car as you slide around the corner. Very difficult to learn in real life, this is one technique that I havent personally put into use yet but I will do in time.

-
Approach corner at appropriate speed.

-
Brake hard but then you want to keep it held lightly to lose grip on the back as you turn in.
(You may want to
scandinavain flick the car at this point to really get the back end out easier)

-
Now that you are oversteering round the corner istead of trying to regain grip you want to keep the car oversteering by either flooring the accelerator to cause the back wheels to spin or to lightly apply gas to keep a bit of grip to help you stay on the track. Steering all the time to try and maintain the oversteer and keep the car sideways.

Very difficult but once perfected will always bring a smile to your face and amaze anyone else watching.

N.B. Most common problem with this technique is that people often have slow approach speeds because quite rightly they are worried that they will simply slide off the course. It his simply something that you have to practice. There is a demonstration of this on GT 2, i suggest you watch it, very impressive.
