      Rahab was a prostitute whose house was in the wall at Jericho, this was convenient for her because it was easy for her clients to find her establishment. When Joshua had sent two men into Jericho to spy, he knew of Rahab's home in the wall, and sent them to her place to stay during their mission. Unfortunatly, the king had heard that the spies were coming and sent word for Rahab to send the men out.
       Rahab lied and said that the men had already left, because she had heard how the Lord had dried up the Red Sea and had handed Sihon and Og over to them already, so she knew the Lord was going to hand Jericho over to the Isrealites so she had hidden the men on the roof under some stalks of flax. After the king's men had left she let the spies down from the roof with a rope, making them promise that before they overtook Jericho that they would spare the lives of her and her family. She was very resourceful and helped even though it could have meant her life if she were caught. She later became a wife.

        Even though Rahab was a prostitute, God was able to use her to carry out His plans. God uses all kinds of people to accomplish His purposes.

        Even though it was possible that she be found out, Rahab trusted God to save her and her family. 'The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped.' {Psalms 28:7}
        She had faith that God would remember her before He overtook Jericho.' Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.' {Hebrews 11:6}
