BEIJING
I learned something about the lions that proliferate the culture.  The male (below) is ALWAYS on the right (powerful and heavenly) and has a ball (the sun) under his paw.  This was seen as the yang.  The female (above) is on the left (weaker and earthly) with a cub under her paw that she is feeding through her claws.  This was yin.  Yin and Yang work together to complete the universe...you can't have one without the other.
I visited the capital of China in October of 2001.  While President G. W. Bush was in Shanghai for the APEC meetings, I skipped town and had a few excursions in Beijing.  I arrived on Wednesday, October 17, and visited the Military Museum.  On Thursday, I climbed the Huanghua section of the Great Wall.  Friday found me meandering through the "Palace Museum".  Saturday I bid farewell to the city...at least till next time.  I still have to try "Peking Duck", see the Opera, visit the Summer Palace...
