1954 Ford and Mercury SeriesBy far, this was the biggest series for cereal car collectors as it produced a total of seventy different cars (ten different models with seven different colors). This was also the first year that the F&F Mold and Die Works of Dayton, Ohio began manufacturing car premiums for Post Cereals. One car came free inside each box with a mail-in offer also available by sending .25 cents and a cereal box top for a choice of two different sets of five models each. A full color picture postcard of the FX-Atmos (a futuristic car) was also included. The seven colors in this series were Sierra Brown, Glacier Blue, Bloomfield Green,Cameo Coral, Torch Red, Goldenrod Yellow, and Lakeland Blue (a late introduction for the Mercury line). The models offered in this series are Fords: Thunderbird Convertible, Crestline Sunliner, Crestline Victoria, Crestline 4-Door Sedan, Customline Club Coupe, and Customline Ranch Wagon. Mercurys: Monterey XM-800 Experimental Dream Car, Monterey 4-Door Sedan, Monterey Sports Coupe, and Monterey Custom Convertible. |
