  This is your one-stop info point for all things Orlando. Just to make life easier for you (and me), I have decided to put his Biography, his Filmography, and his Stage-ography all together. (Okay, so I might be taking the whole "graphy" thing too far.) And you can get to all of them from this page. Also, I thought I'd put Orlando's contact addresses on too, so all you bloombastic fans get a chance to mail him. Hehehe.
Biography
Also under this title:
Some Bloombastic Bloomers and Orlando Sez

  Born on January 13th, 1977 in Canterbury, England, Orlando Bloom's plans of becoming an actor developed quite early when he realised that the characters on TV and in the movies they were actors (that they were fake-lah !). "Once I realized that I could be Superman or I could be The Hustler or I could be Daniel Day Lewis's character in The Last Of The Mohicans - I was like, 'Man, I can become an actor and be all of those things.' Besides, we have Christopher "Superman" Reeve to thank for putting Orlando on the acting path. It was Superman that inspired Orlando, then a tender 4 year old.
  He moved to London in 1993 to improve his career, doing bit parts in TV series like "Casualty". He then spent two years at the National Youth Theatre before getting a scholarship to train with the British American Drama Academy. His first memorable appearance, a cameo as the Rentboy in the critically acclaimed movie Wilde in 1997, earned him various film offers, which he all turned down in favor of theatre. After Wilde, Orlando attended the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama for 3 years.
  On stage, he appeared in plays like "The Seagull", "Twelfth Night", and "Trojan Women". Peter Jackson then "discovered" the classically handsome Bloom for his much hyped Lord Of The Rings trilogy in 1999. After doing the three Rings movies with Jackson, he worked with Ridley Scott on Black Hawk Down. Since then, he has been working on new projects non-stop. In 2003, four of his movies will be released: The Kelly Gang, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Calcium Kid, and The Return of the King. He is also scheduled to star alongside Brad Pitt in a movie adaption of Homer's
Iliad, Troy, as Prince Paris.
  When he's not working, Orlando divides his time between London and Los Angeles.

Some Bloombastic Bloomers:  { Back To Top, or Go On?}

  • His friends call him Orli or OB.
  • He has no middle name. With a name like Orlando, who needs one?
  • He's a brunette, and his eyes are brown too. (He donned a blond wig and blue contacts as Legolas, but you'll notice that in some posters, his eyes are their Original colour.)
  • Is 5'11" (180 cm) , and weighs... I don't know his weight.
  • Is a vegan, and stays away from dairy products and eggs.
  • Is rumoured to be Jewish, but we won't know for sure unless he confirms it in an interview.
  • Was born in the year of the Dragon.
  • Orlando's birthstone is a garnet. He's a Capricorn too, and his numerological number is 7.
  • Orlando's favorite colour is yellow. It is said to be the colour of optimistic and idealistic people.
  • His Father named him after Virginia Woolf's novel "Orlando", because he thought everyone would remember it.
  • He used to smoke, but recently quit and now he bites his nails.
  • His sister Samantha is 2 years older than him. She is also a student of Guildhall, and an aspiring actress.
  • Has a dog named Maude. She is currently in England, living with an ex-girlfriend of Orlando's, but he plans to move her to Los Angeles soon.
  • His father, Harry Bloom, died when Orlando was 4 . The senior Mr. Bloom was well known in anti-apartheid circles, and worked alongside Nelson Mandela.
  • Orlando is not married. If he were, he'd break lots of hearts, no?
  • Has a tattoo of 'nine' in Elvish on his right forearm (all the Felowship had one, but on different places), and a sun on his torso that he got when he was 15. Orlando is rumoured to have a mysterious third tattoo, but nobody knows if it's for sure.
  • He can speak French and English.
  • He has A-levels in theatre, photography and sculpture.
  • His favorite football team is Manchester United.
  • His first job was as a clay trapper at a pigeon shooting range when he was 13.
  • His nickname for Viggo Mortensen (Aragon in LOTR) was "that dirty thing"
  • He is a technophobe, and doesn't own a computer. However, he did pop by on the Net once after The Fellowship Of The Ring, and was shocked because so many sites were dedicated to him. His mom has been telling him to get an official website, but Orlando is just not interested.

Orlando Sez:  { Back To Top, or Go On?}

"People come into your life and people leave it... you just have to trust that life has a road mapped out for you."

"I don't care much about the money at all. Frankly, if I get the chance to kiss someone in a movie, they wouldn't need to pay me at all."

"Tolkien created elves to be these perfect beings, to bring the world forward. It's quite a responsibility trying to take that to the screen. And of course, the people who have read the novels have invested so much love into these characters."

"Viggo will go on about Elves and how they're always doing their nails and brushing their long, blonde hair, and being all prissy. And i just say: Well, at least I'm going to live forever! Got that? LIVE FOREVER!"

"Ridley Scott has a history of being one of the greats. Although Lord of the Rings was a massive movie, it felt, with being filmed in New Zealand, like it was done among friends, which is what everybody became. It felt like a smaller thing. Ridley's movie felt like a really big deal, but it was a great experience to have."

Filmography  { Back to Top, or Go On?}
Unfortunately, this section isn't ready yet because I'm doing reseach.

Stage-ography {Back To Top, or Go On?}
It's the same for this one. Sorry.

Contact Addresses {Back To Top, or Go Home?}
I'm sorry, but Orlando does not have email as he's a technophobe, however, I do have some work addresses of his. No personal ones though. Sorry. No cell phone either, so you're gonna have to copy these down and get yourself out of the house and into the post office. However, it's a proven fact that Orlando doesn't reply to his fanmail. You might get lucky, but don't set your hopes too high. Oh, and if you DO get a reply, please tell us poor Mirkwoodians so we can thrash you. Just joking. Give us some hope, okay?
