What is Christianity?
What is Christianity | My Church | Christian Links

Christianity is the recognition that Jesus, God one and only Son, came to earth, live as a man and die as the sacrifice for our sins. Jesus knows and understand how tough it is to be human. He was tempted with same temptation we are today. However, he showed us how we should live and provide us with the avenue to live the same way. All we most do is open our hearts, mind, bodies, and soul to him and ask him to take full control. While this is easy to say, it is much hard to do. The starting point is recognizing Jesus as the Son of God and ask him to forgive your sins. Then request him to come and live through you. As you grow as a Christian, by pray, studying his word, and allowing Christ to lead you, you will handle normal day circumstances differently.

To accept Christ and bring him into you heart, say the following prayer. BEWARE, once you do you will not be the same.

Lord, I realize that I am a sinner. I have not lived my life the way you would have me. I ask you to forgive me of those sins and to become Lord of my life. I turn over my whole being: body, mind, soul, and heart, to you and ask that you would use me and help me to live as you did. Father, I thank you for giving up your Son to become our Savior and giving us the opportunity to come to you unblemished. I gratefully accept the unrepayable gift of your Son and look forwarded to being used.

In Jesus name I pray

Amen

My Church

The Georgetown Baptist Church was founded in 1866 by 5 Union families and 5 Confederate families as a form of reconcilation. The orginial church building was a small 1 story wood building which was located on the corner of Gay Street (now N Street) and Congress Street (now 31st Street ). The building burned on February 9, 1899 with only a few pieces of furniture being salvaged. The current building was built in 1899 to replace the old building. It features a semicircular sanctuary ornamented with beautiful stained-glass windows. The church is blessed with the music of a nineteenth-century tracker organ of the Roosevelt series that was built in 1883.

The Church has had four names during its history: The First Baptist Church of Georgetown, DC(1866), Gay Street Baptist Church(1868-1899), West Washington Baptist Church(1899-1941), and Georgetown Baptist Church(1941-present)

Today the church feature an international congregation with 19 different countries represented. The church currently supplies a English as Second Language course, The Sunday Service and Sunday School, and our Wednesday night bible studies.
