| Egocentrifugality is the polar opposite of egocentricism. But how could this be a vice? If a relentless focus on the self in defiance of the other is evil, how can a focus on the other not be a virtue? The key here is to understand the individual of whom we are speaking. This is not an individual who lets you determine what you want, then seek to fulfill that, but an individual whose chief concern is to determine what HE wants you to have, and fulfill that agenda. He doesn't believe in YOUR value, and act to sustain that, but in the lack of existence of value in you at all, and seek to replace that. Where are such people? Everyone recognizes an egocentric, but what about centrifugals? They are as ubiquitous as egocentrics, but hard to recognize. Just remember that the egocentric knows how to hide too. An egocentric womanizer, for example, does not go about his conquests by bragging about himself, but by carefully, tenderly, lovingly, fulfilling the apparent wants of his victim, but with the sole intent of making her his victim. So too the centrifugal does not tell you that you are worthless, but he will offer to do things for you with the eventual goal of inserting his wants into yours. This behavior is easier to recognize in the "smothering mother," who tries to lead her childrens' lives. In the sexual arena, he is the person who wants to control every thought and every movement of his beloved. In the political area, the centrifugal is the person who wants to have government pay your wages, determine where you work, how you live, and how and where you purchase your wants.. |
