Spring
2007
I'd like to start this newsletter by saying Hello, and that I hope everyone that celebrates it had a Happy Easter. I hope that it wasn't as snowy in your part of the world as it was here where the airport near Halifax reported a foot of snow. (We didn't get as much here though.) I know some locals people have received this e-mail as well and know what I'm talking about with the snow. This is my first attempt at a quarterly newsletter that I hope to publish on my website, and also e-mail to my friends throughout the world. If you know anyone else that may be interested in the information, please e-mail it to them as well. A list of the people that this has been sent to should be included below, but their e-mail addresses will not be listed (to prevent them from getting spam.

For those of you that haven't heard from me in a while, as of September of 2005, I was no longer working at the register.com call center in Hebron. From what I've seen and heard, a lot of the people that were there when I was there have are also no longer employed there and have gone on to better jobs. I'm currently working part time for the Argyle Recreation Department as an after-school supervisor at the French high-school in Tusket. I work there most weeknights, and also on Saturday mornings for a bit. I'm basically in charge of unlocking the classrooms and closing them (and the school as well, depending on the day of the week) when the activities for that day are complete. I'm also working part time as part of the house-keeping staff at the Colony Hotel in Yarmouth. Once the restaurant closes, I'm responsible for cleaning the washrooms, as well as the dinning room and kitchen area. I also clean the lobby of the hotel as well. My only complaint is the hours. At present I work on Saturday and Sunday nights, from 9 PM to the early hours of the following morning. As summer gets closer, the restaurant will stay open later, so I will be there even later.

Other than the two part time jobs that I mentioned, I'm looking for full time work. I've applied to a bunch of different jobs all over the place, and have yet to receive a phone call from any of them. I'm getting somewhat irritated by that, and feel like I'm wasting my time. I have a friend that goes to Alberta each Spring, and comes back to Nova Scotia in the Autumn and I was thinking about going with him this year, but he's already gone. Oh well, maybe next year if I'm still working only part-time jobs.

As for the other things going on in my life, I'm still involved various volunteer groups within the county. As you may know, the local Saint John Ambulance division folded back in May of 2006 due to the new requirements for all members to be certified first responders. I'm still involved with the Wedgeport Fire Department, but have also started volunteering with some other groups as well. I've been a member of the Argyle Recreation Commission for a bit, but it's hard to attend those meetings as I'm usually working at the school on the nights of their meetings. I'm now also a member of the Yarmouth YMCA's Board of Directors, but am only able to attend part of those meetings due to working at the school. Those meetings start at 5:30 PM, which is sort of weird for me. Most of the meetings I attend for the various volunteer groups I've been involved with start at 7:00 or 7:30 PM. At 5:30 PM, I'm usually eating supper. That was why I missed their last meeting. My mother had made a roast for supper that night, and I was not missing that. (LOL) I've also been volunteering with the MS Society and am thinking about getting involved with the Red Cross as well. The MS Society is having a Walkathon on May 06, 2007 and if you want to sponsor me for the walk, please go to https://msors.mssociety.ca/Walk2007/Sponsor.aspx?&PID=942857&L=2 and make a donation online.

Those of you that know me know that my cats are like my kids. I spoil them rotten. Well a while back I noticed this weird lump in my female cats stomach, and it felt like she had an orange in her belly. After a visit to the vet I was told that she had a growth of some kind and some medication was given to make her feel better. Sammy (my female cat) passed away on the morning of February 17, 2007, which was the day I was to bring her to the vet to have her put down. I still have my male kitty named Tyson though, and found he's become more friendly since Sam passed. I know I'd be going crazy, or spending all my spare time at the SPCA if I didn't have him. (LOL)

As for my love life, I had met someone back in October and had spent some time at that gals home with her and her daughter up until the end of December. Those of you that know me know the craving I've had to be a parent lately, and spending time with those 2 people doing "daddy" things was fun for me. It was neat to have the child read to me, and me correct any mis-pronounced words. However due to our busy schedules and some trust issues caused by both of us, things didn't end up working out between us.

For those of you that know my parents, they're doing fine. Back in the fall my father's business became an Agency Store of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation and he's been busy. A couple of years ago he and mom flew to Ontario and drove back in a former Toronto Transit Authority bus. Dad is in the process of converting that bus into a camper for he and mom to use in the summer. Over the winter he's had trouble keeping the battery on it charged and I would hate to see the battery go dead if they were at a distant campground without another vehicle to charge it up.

As for my sister, she bought a small house in Comeau's Hill probably about a year ago, although I think she spends more time at her boyfriend's house. She recently had to replace the water pump at her place and did not like having to do that. Hopefully she can fix the place up a bit and maybe sell it for more then she payed. It has one bedroom upstairs and also a small room off the kitchen that could be used as a bedroom if need be. It's a nice place, for her and the dog.

I'm not sure what else I can comment on in this newsletter. If you've received this newsletter by e-mail, and no longer want to, please let me know by e-mail. Have a good one...

Peter
