God summoned a beast from the field and He said, “Behold man, created in My image.   Therefore, adore him.  You shall  protect him in the wilderness, shepherd his flocks, watch over his children, and accompany him wherever he may go—even into civilization.
You shall be his ally, his friend, and his companion.”

To do these things.  God Said, “I endow you with these instincts uncommon to other
beasts; faithfulness, devotion and understanding surpassing those of man himself.  Lest it impair your loyalty, you shall be blind to the faults of men.  Lest it impair you understanding, you are denied the power of words.  Let no fault of language cleave an accord beyond that of man with any other beast or even, man with men.
Speak to your master only with your mind and through honest eyes.

Walk by his side, sleep in his doorway, forage for him, ward off his enemies, carry his burdens, share his afflictions, love him and comfort him.  And in return for this, man will fulfill your needs and wants, which shall be only food, shelter and affection.

So be silent and be a friend to man.  Guide him through the perils along the way to the land that I have promised him.  “This shall be your destiny and your immortality”
So spoke the Lord and the dog heard and was content.

Walk softly, follow my footsteps 'til we meet at dawn
You Shouldn't Have Gone

What I wouldn't give
To have you back.
To feel your fuzzy warmness
To hear those little noises
That could only be made by you.

Since you've gone
I yearn to hear that
Familiar thump
Of your early morning journey
Down the stairs,
Just to greet me.

You went too soon,
And left me to question why
And try to pick the pieces up
Around this hole
That is my life now
Without you.

This pain won't go.
And though you have,
Your memory will live
Forever in my broken heart.
I miss you

Angel In The Sky

There is a star in Heaven
and on it is a place,
that's been reserved for you since birth
a place meant for your name.

This star has watched you through the years
but it could not stand alone,
it rested high on angel wings
awaiting your trip home.

You slipped away, I held you close,
your soul flowed through my heart,
I felt your last breath through my tears
I felt your pain depart.

Tonight I looked up to the sky
and there for me to view
was one lone star shining bright
your name was shining too.

You were my angel on this earth,
you're my angel in the sky.
Wait for me, someday you'll see
our names shine side by side.

My neighbor printed a copy of this
beautiful poem and put Scottie's name
and added a picture of a collie who looks
so much like Scottie.
3 wks ago today Scottie died,
and I am still so sad.
