My Summer Love

Strolling down memory lane
breathing images of sweet summer love
my mind drifts on fragrant air
echoed by cooing dove.

Watching you on the pleasant day
While the flowers were blooming,
You look so cheerful in the glistening sun
on this blissful summer morning.

I envision you in fields
of smiling daffodils;
I watch, as if, lost in a dream
hoping time would stand still.
I close my eyes and feel the breeze
Caress my thoughts of you
I taste your lips of strawberry wine
as we kiss under the August moon.

Your playfulness fills my heart
with gleeful joy of life,
generating warmth inside
without a care in sight.
Now the trees are naked and fruitless
the flowers have lost their bloom,
leaves blanket the ground
because snow will be coming soon.

Looking back on my summer passion,
remembering pleasurable moments
I experience sadness, loss and regret,
while painfully mouring your absence.
Will I ever again, encounter
the magical wonder of a sunset glow;
or, inspiring images of sunrise
walking in the cold damp snow.
