  Mike started his law enforcement career in 1976 when he went to work for the city of Mena.He then went to work for the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff.In 1988 he was elected as the Sheriff of Polk County,and has been the Sheriff ever since.In 1999 he was elected president of The Arkansas Sheriff's Association.Also in 1999, he received The National  Humanitarian Award,from the,National Center For Rural Law Enforcement,for his part in the rescue of a lady stranded in a flood.
   Mike is an extremely popular Sheriff with the citizens of Polk County.His door is always open to the public,and his phone number is listed, so people can call him at home if they have a problem.
