Proving the value of a free press, yesterday the Possum County Daily Flapdoodle scooped Corporate Media Chihuahuas everywhere by breaking the story of the GOP hiring thugs to physically intimidate the Miami Dade County Canvassers into dropping their hand recount:

" I look at CNN and see these young, clean-shaven, Aryan pure Bush protesters filling the camera lens, starting a "near riot" in Miami Dade just before their county canvassing board decides to do a 180 degree turn and not do a hand recount at all (hmm... don’t suppose there’s a cause/effect thing happening there, do you?)...

Guess what’s happening in Florida?

My guess? That is not the [rank and file] GOP running amok in the streets. It is the fucking Rent-a-Photo-Op-Nazis. Need to intimidate the moderate Democrats? Dial 1-800-FASCISTUPRISING. For a slight additional charge, we will physically assault any members of the Democratic Party Leadership stupid enough to appear on the scene. Ask about our Krystal Nacht specials!"

In a transparently obvious attempt to suck up to us so that we won’t launch our Corporate Media boycott which will end their reign of terror, GOP lapdogs ABCNEWS and MSNBC rushed to reprint the Daily Flapdoodle’s extremely world breaking exclusive story. (This does not change the fact that, just as William Shirer once scooped Hitler, we here at the Flapdoodle scooped the entire Corporate press corps.)

In an even more shocking development, the Democratic Party (D-Spineless Smirk Appeasers) has actually gotten off it’s collective Donkey and have asked Janet Reno to investigate this latest round of GOP crimes against Democracy. Democratic Representatives Peter Deutsch and Carrie Meek of Florida, Sheila Jackson-Lee and Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas (nice touch!) and William Jefferson of Louisiana, and Eleanor Holmes Norton, the (non-voting) delegate from Washington, D.C. sent the Justice Department a letter charging: "According to many published reports, unruly and violent protesters managed to create a climate of fear and intimidation, with the intent of preventing the [Miami-Dade County] canvassing board from completing its task..." The letter described the actions cited in the reports as "chilling," and said they included: "punching and kicking individuals, pounding on doors, screaming threats and other intimidating acts. In addition, published reports strongly suggest these actions were orchestrated by the Bush campaign."

Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-The Guy Who DIDN’T have a heart attack this week), prevented by good taste from adding "DUH!!", made a statement of his own from the Vice President’s residence in Washington: "These demonstrations were clearly designed to intimidate and to prevent a simple count of votes from going forward... This is a time to honor the rule of law, not surrender to the rule of the mob."

Public outrage so far seems limited, probably because Bush’s campaign has benefited from their two year smear campaign against Vice President Gore carried out through their Corporate Media lackeys and, of course, only such forward looking journalistic organs as the Possum County Daily Flapdoodle are covering this story in any kind of real, meaningful way.

Back in Austin, the winner of Camp Smirk’s highly competitive "Lying Scumbag Of The Week" award, Karen Hughes (R-100% Pure Evil) shrugged the Democratic Party’s charges off as just another felony they planned to weasel out of. "We all know Al Gore is a big fat, liar. Because of that, we’re justified in hiring as many mentally unglued White Supremacist gun nuts as possible to suffocate the hand recount in Florida - - and break our necks to make sure we block all the military's absentee ballots from being counted, although we'll continue to blame the Vice President. Destroying Democracy is like a total rush! Did you see the really excellent job we did on Election Day, dragging Florida back to the 1860s by disenfranchising tens of thousands of colored Gore voters? I think that was our shining moment. The NAACP only skimmed the surface with their hearing on the 11th, and that lasted five hours!"
