Vernax. It is an oddity in the Maelstrom. Rampant plant life surviving in the hard vacuum of space. A self-contained ecology, yet a predator in stellar proportions. Anathema to all life not its own. But yet, within the twisted tangle of its being, other life has found a way to thrive. Growlers, in particular, have adapted to this strange realm, giving rise to the breed of Treehopper growlers. This alone is reason enough to establish a permanent presence in this wild growth, as their numbers must be restricted and culled if not outright eliminated. But also, there seems to be many relics and artifacts contained therein as well, the flotsam and jetsam of uncounted alien civilizations waiting to be discovered.
