It seems about a million years ago, but I remember a short series of articles in White Dwarf magazine that chronicled four gamers building up new armies month by month. They were spending something like $50 or $100 a month, some british form of currency really, but I thought it was a neat idea. Now, my life is suddenly taking a financial twist. My wife and I are expecting a baby, and I figure this means MUCH less money for wargaming! So, in the spirit of the "A Tale of Four Gamers" articles from White Dwarf, I respectfully present "Shard on $20 a month."
Why $20? Because it's a small amount of money, but still an amount I'm likely to be abe to spend after I'm done buying paint. Now, $20 may not seem like much, especially to build an army with, but we'll see how far we can stretch it.
I plan to run these articles in six monthly installments, totally $120 at the end of it. Some months may feature less spending, so as to save for more expensive pieces the following month. But more than just the "here's how I spent my money" there will also be battle reports (as I play my new army against my buddies) and even (gasp!) pictures of my painted Shard models.
