

At the outbreak of the Civil War he was residing in Calhoun Co.
At the age of 20 he enlisted on May 10th 1861 in Battle Creek Mich. as a Private in Company C of the 2nd Michigan Infantry.
He received a disability discharge on November 23rd 1861 at Fort Lyon Va.
He re-enlisted as a Sgt. in Coy F of the 11th Mich. Cavalry.
He served until June 30, 1865.
After the war he moved to South Dakota.
He became a member of the GAR Post #. 19 Robert Anderson Aberdeen, Brown Co., SD.
His last reported residence was Aberdeen Brown Co. SD.
