The so expected SS Dresden, with 1784 irish passengers, anchored in the outer road of the Rio de la Plata. The Mihanovich's steamers transported the passengers from the Dresden to the Catalinas mol.
The mol was full of immigrants that were speaking in very different languages. At the same time that the Dresden arrived, may other steamers did. The "Duchessa di Genova", an italian steamer, was one of them, carring with him almost the same number of immigrants as the SS Dresden.
There was a welcome committee, formed by the anglo-parlant society of Buenos Aires, expecting them in order to took them to the Viejo Hotel de Inmigrantes (Old Immigrant's Hotel) where they would have some primary accomodation.
The capacity of the Hotel was for 2000 up to 3000 people. When the irish immigrants arrived, it was crowed with 4000 people. The scene in the must be incredible. Thousand of people trying to sleep where they could, in places such us the floor of the courtyard..
A news was published in the The Standard Newspaper where it says: "To say that they were treated like cattle it could not be true, for the owner of the cattle would at least provide them with food and drink; but this poor people were left to live or die unaided by the officials who are paid to look after them, and with out the slightest sign of sympathy form these officials".

Boletín del Día: Ayer por la mañana se produjo un serio desorden en el Hotel de Inmigrantes que fue dominado por la policía.
Hay allí unos 1500 inmigrantes irlandeses.
Parece que el día anterior estuvieron allí varios caballeros de la colonia citada y distribuyeron entre ellos sumas de dinero.
Ayer por la mañana, uno de ellos sacó un billete de 5 pesos y un grupo pretendió quitarle el dinero.
Este fue el origen de lo que siguió.
Momentos después todos ellos se agruparon y comenzaron a proferir gritos amenazadores, quejándose de la comida.
Como el desorden asumiera proporciones cada vez mayores, llamose a la policía qe restableció el orden sin mayores consecuencias.
No se verificó arresto alguno.
