Fatphobia affects everyone in this society. Fat stereotypes lead to the fear of fat, body hatred, eating disorders, billion dollar industries, suicide and much more. Fat people can simply break the fat stereotypes by living our lives. Allies can help in a variety of ways, but most importantly, counteract the stereotypes with knowledge. The cycle of fat hatred can be broken if we do not allow it to exist. This starts with ourselves- by loving our own bodies- and ends by expressing fat acceptance to others. Remember: You body is not a democracy- you’re the only one who gets to vote. Compliment yourself daily. Be your body’s advocate and ally, not it’s enemy. Everyday thank you body for helping you thoughout the day. |
