Here is how I quilted my quilt.  The question has come up several
times on how to quilt this pattern.  I quilted it by sewing machine
and wanted a design where I could sew as much as possible in one
continous line.

I quilted my Hidden Wells this way.  Start at the lime green and you can sew all the way from top to bottom.
Then follow the red lines from top to bottom.
You can stitch in the ditch (the seam lines between the strips, or you can choose to pick a pretty thread and stitch any distance from the seam line.  The neat thing is that you can stitch from top to bottom without stopping.

After you do the top to bottom, you could follow the blue lines for the background, then the lime green lines.

In this area, you may even be able to figure out a continuous line around the center.

Where to sew backward?  Well, how about that pink part in the very center? The blue lines...  sew forward where the arrows point down and backward where the arrows point up.  You can turn your quilt just a little to do the "sideways" parts.

Same with the lime green areas in the center part.  Sew forward on the left sides of the shapes and backward on the right side to get back up to the where you started.

Quilting tip #1... sewing backward:

Karla  was dreading flipping and flopping that quilt back and forth to straight stitch it. It is like wresting a crocodile!  Then I simply suggested that she use the "continuous back stitch" on her sewing mating to quilt forward then instead of turning the quilt to go the opposite way, just stitch backwards on her quilt. You can partial turn your quilt to get the little sideways stitches you need before you have to go the opposite way.  So instead of fighting with that quilt,  I always  just quilt backward. If you go slow and take your time it works out very well.  Well, Karla didn't have a button to continuous sew backward so she, in her creative way, figured out that she could use the back part of the button hole stitch set to 0 instead of zig zag and it would sew backward without her holding down the back stitch button.

So there it is gals... no need to turn that quilt back and forth...

and remember... you heard it on the Frenz list first!!! Where innovative ideas and creative quilts are shared every day.

Now, practice sewing backward, and watch you hair, it will blow in the breeze...
