Background:


After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a BFA in Comprehensive Theatre, Brandon moved to New York City and is currently living in 10031-West Harlem. In addition to FOX Soccer USA on the Fox Soccer Channel, he's currently the Lead Host of "Cool in Your Code" (C.I.Y.C.) on WNYC TV (WNYE) and an extreme motocross show called "Rally America 2005" airing this Fall. Brandon can be seen in various films and on television shows. Some film credits include the lead role of "Julian" in the classic horror film Malevolence (dir. Stevan Mena), which was picked up by Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Also, a supporting role in the dark comedy, Rick starring Bill Pullman and Aaron Stanford (dir. Curtiss Clayton), the lead in the political drama, Evidencia invisible (aka Invisible Evidence) shot entirely on location in Guatemala (dir. Alejandro Castillo) and finally another supporting role in the indie horror film Little Erin Merryweather (dir. David Morwick).

Most recently, he has completed work on One Life To Live as the recurring character "Dr. Michael McBain." His other television credits include Law and Order's Special Victim's Unit, CBS's The Guiding Light, As The World Turns, MTV's Face Biters as well as a number of national commercials.
Brandon also has an extensive background in theatre and he performed at the historic Stamford Theatre Works in the 2001 production of Fraternity, written and directed by Steve Karp.

He's also just completed a supporting role along side David Naughton in the feature film, Rave On (dir. Denny Albee) and has another supporting role in the upcoming film, The Notorious Bettie Page (previously known as The Ballad Of Bettie Page) (dir. Mary Harron).

In his off time Brandon can be found playing with his 2 bands ILL ROCKET (Brandon’s the drummer and founding member) and THE PROGRESS, doing Bikram yoga, writing and enjoying Central Park. Brandon is currently studying with Anthony Abeson and is signed with Abrams Artists Agency for Hosting.

Tidbits:
  • Brandon is 5' 9" (1.75 m) and his eyes are Blue.
  • His full name is Richard Brandon Johnson but he’s often credited as R. Brandon Johnson or Brandon Johnson.
  • Brandon is currently developing a new line of bath products for Revlon, his first product is titled “Buddy BJ’s Butt Body Wash” and sold exclusively after all ILL ROCKET live performances.
  • Brandon played on the Bloomington Jefferson hockey team that won the state championship in 1992.
  • Before ILL ROCKET and THE PROGRESS - Brandon also formed a band in Minnesota that was originally called 'Yellow No.5', but then changed its name to 'Touch is Automatic'. They did four U.S. tours, released three albums, and a couple ep's.
