KENYA Here and in other countries of East Africa, we can visit National Parks. We can go on safaris to see lions, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and other animals in their natural home. MEXICO On the Yucatan peninsular, we can visit remains of the city of Chichen Itza, where the Mayan people settled in the sixth century. Abondoned before the Spanish came, it's now party rebuilt. We can see stone pyramids and temples and a Mayan ballfield. RUSSIA A famous place to visit here is the Kremlin, a walled fortress in Moscow, with old churches, palaces, and towers with onion-shaped gold domes, dating bact to the Middle Ages. Today the Kremlin is the headquarters for the Russian Government. SOUTH AFRICA Think of sourthern Africa and we probably think of wildlife like the elephant, lion leopard and rhino. We can see them up close at the Kruger National Park, a huge nature reserve, home to 137 species of mammals. |
