The Idea section
The following are ideas that either simply crossed my mind and stayed
there for an amount of time, or project that I actually started, but never
got to continue and cast aside.
If someone wants to actually pick up one of those ideas, I have no objection. In fact, I'd welcome it, if you are serious and willing to give it your best shot. I only make a single request. If you do that, tell me, so that I can actually mention that you're working on said idea. No need to have a bunch of writers working on the exact same things.
Codename: Project Hikari
Title: Those masks we all wear
Type: Darkfic, alternate reality, long one-shot
Idea: This story centered on Hikari. The idea of the plot was recycled
from the initial draft of "Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters" chapter 5, where I had
made Hikari victim of abuse by her father (either sexual abuse or verbal
and physical violence I never quite made a choice on that). The goal of
the story was to push that further.
The story began with Hikari being chosen as the Fourth Children in place
of Touji. When the 13th Angel takes over, an attack on Hikari similar to
the 15th occurs, as Hikari goes through a number of flashback about her
family life and the first time she's been victim of abuse. The Angel then
uses the images of her father to get her to fight the EVAs, until the berserker
Unit-01 silences it.
In the hospital, Hikari finally come to term with reality, and her and
Kodama reconciles (as Kodama had been aware of what had been occurring,
but had been pressed by Hikari not to say a word, to preserve the family).
Hikari decides to speak up, to prevent such thing to occur to Nozomi in
the future.
I had also thought of an alternate second part where Shinji, led by
grief, came to see Hikari, first once, then every day, falling in love,
but the relation awkward because of Hikari's injuries (she's no longer
fit to be anyone's wife) and her belief that Shinji just comes to see her
out of guilt and pity.
Comments: This story is one that I really wanted to do but that never
happened, because my passion for it faded out. "Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters" explored
in some ways the character of Hikari and then "I used to love her" got
in the say. At the point where I was finally done with IU2LH, I had already
worked a lot with Hikari. Also, the novelty of the idea of Hikari being
a pilot had faded, with stories such as "Together we Stand" and "Ascension
of the Lamb", and a friend of mine actually wrote a short story portraying
Hikari as a victim of abuse, which killed whatever remained of the idea.
Finally, in retrospect, the idea of abuse (sexual or not) seemed just too
delicate for me to handle, and was probably a bit too dark for my taste.

Codename: Project Evil Dead
Title: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Evil Dead (duh!)
Type: Darkfic, horror, fusion, alternate EoE continuity, one-shot
Idea: Six friends go to an isolated mountain cabin for a little vacation.
It's been four years since the events that almost led to the end of the
world, and it's the first time in one year that the old friends have managed
to get together. After the death of his uncle, Kensuke inherited of a small
property in the mountains, which seemed to him like the prefect opportunity
to gather the gang again. Little did he know what fate awaited them all.
The idea here is to take the NGE characters and put them through events
inspired by the first Evil Dead movie, in a serious manner. So this wasn't
meant to be a parody, but a true horror story.
In this setting, Shinji and Rei, as well as Touji and Hikari are couples.
It just seemed fitting to have Asuka as the annoying girl... and Kensuke
is extra cannon fodder. I actually thought of using him instead of Asuka
for the tree scene. I can just picture the looks on the others face as
they'd find him up in the air, a three branch entering his anus and exiting
from his throat (sorry for the imagery). We then have all hell break loose,
happy demon possessing, body dismembering, etc. (like Touji chopping off
Hikari with an ax *grin*) Of course, Shinji plays Ash. Yeah, Ash. Remember
the first movie, our lovable Evil Dead hero wasn't worth much, except for
being thrown around.
Comments: Well, While this is one of my oldest ideas, it's one I never
got to work on, and I know of someone who did an ED/NGE fusion, and two
others who were considering it. So... no room for this one, and no time
to work on it.
Codename: Rei
Title: This Stranger in the Mirror
Type: Drama, alternate reality, one-shot
Idea: After Rei missing a few days of class, Hikari goes to the EVA
pilot's place. There, she finds a shaken and bruised Rei under the shower.
This obviously wrong, Hikari calls for help. Ritsuko shrugs it off as simply
a post traumatic stress reaction, but Hikari doesn't believe that and jumps
to conclusion, convincing the others (Shinji, Asuka & Misato) as well:
Rei's been abused (actually, she's wrong... although, I guess one could
probably call Rei's everyday life as abuse). While nothing can directly
be done, the girls (and Shinji) decides that Rei must learn to stand for
herself and therefore learn what a normal life is. So, taking the opportunity
of the Commander being away for 3 weeks, the girls decides to teach Rei
how's the life of a normal teenage girl, while holding an (unnecessary)
suicide watch over her.
Comments: This is an idea that came to me after reading a Ranma fic
called "Genma's Daughter", by Deborah Smith. It suddenly hit me as one
of the ideas used there might actually apply in the NGE context and mainly
to bring a solution to one eternal challenge that always seem to haunt
me when I write NGE fanfics: turn Rei into an ordinary girl. Or something
close anyway. Hopefully, it has as much potential as I'm hoping.
Unfortunately, I can't really write it. While I managed to handle "Tokyo-3
Baby-sitters", this concept is on another level entirely. I mean, three
girls trying to show Rei how to be a girl... I don't think I have the upbringing
to manage that.
But I know that there are very talented female writers out there...
female writers who just might be interested to accept this challenge. I
hope someone does. I'd like to see where this story will go from here...

Codename: Project Bondage
Title: ???
Type: Darkfic, alternate reality, lemon, one-shot
Idea: For a change, I wanted to use an ACC (author created character).
Not only use one, but make it my main character. The idea came a bit later
under the form of one of the students from the Children class. For lack
of development, we'll call her here Megumi.
Megumi is a quiet student. One without friends, that nobody notices.
Megumi has an obsession. Rei Ayanami. Someone like her. Someone she finds
attractive. Someone she desires. But she is content to be able to see her
in class, to look at her without anyone noticing. Rei is hers and hers
alone. Or so she thought, until Shinji Ikari came on. Rei's behavior began
to slowly change, imperceptible to others, but clear to Megumi. Rei never
cared about anyone before. But she notices him. Sometimes, she looks at
him. Sometimes, she greets him. Sometimes, she talks to him. Unacceptable!
Megumi then decides to teach Rei a lesson and claim her for herself. Under
the pretence of needing help with homework, she enters Rei's apartment
and drugs her. Once Rei wakes up, Megumi begins her education.
Comments: Gak! What came over me, I have no idea. While it seemed like
a fun project at first, the idea of non-consensual sex quickly became a
turn off and I just couldn't work on that idea. Not to mention that, when
one takes a step back, it's possible to notice the heavy resemblance with
Lara Bartram and Ammadeau's story, "Maya snaps".

Codename: Project Hellraiser
Title: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Hellraiser
Type: Darkfic, horror, fusion, post ep. 24 continuity, one-shot
Idea: After the death of Kaworu, Shinji wanders through the ruins of
Tokyo-3, his emotionally at his limit. Rain forces him to seek refuge into
an half destroyed building and in the debris, Shinji finds a strange puzzle
cube. He feels driven to play with it, and then... all Hell breaks loose!
There begins a tale of death, pain and blood, as Shinji becomes the
new recruits of the forces of Hell, as he strikes at those who he consider
hurt him. NERV's only hope is... Fuyutsuki? Seems there's more to the old
professor than people believed...
Comments: What can I say... I like that idea. But unfortunately, no
time, so I'm putting it here in hope that someone with the talent to carry
it out will try it in a serious manner.
Codename: Project Reunion
Title: ???
Type: Drama, continuity, one-shot
Idea: This is a recent one I got while reading "Tokyo-3 Baby-sitters"
to see where I was with that. It's a spin-off from Chapter 6, where we
discover that Kensuke had a crush on Hikari, but was keeping quiet, as
he knew of her interest in Touji and thought she'd be better off with him.
Nice guys... aren't we idiots? Anyway...
The story starts after EoE, where but Hikari and Kensuke meet at the
funeral for the NERV employees who died on the line of duty. That included
both their fathers. They talk, share memories and sorrow. They visit the
graves of their fathers (or at least the tombstones) and then the graves
of Asuka and Shinji, who died to save the world. They hug, then depart,
Hikari leaving for Osaka to live with relatives there, while Kensuke remains
in Tokyo-2. That part is meant to explore something that was not really
covered before, the people who died in the JSSJF invasion and it's consequences.
In the second part, Kensuke and Hikari meet at the cemetery on the anniversary
day of their fathers and friends' death a few years later. Hikari is now
a cook in a small restaurant, while Kensuke works in a computer firm. They
meet, talk about their lives and somewhere, and old flame is revived and
one begins to share that feeling. Follows WAFFy moments. No, I hadn't plan
on a lemon here.
Comments: I liked that idea. Really. But then, as I spoke about it,
someone made me realize how much it was similar to "I used to love her".
And it was true. Someone could probably make something very interesting
out of this, but I have the feeling that if *I* do it, it'll lose of it's
value. And that's bad. Damn! I really liked that idea.

Codename: Project Reika
Title: Convergence of duality
Type: Drama, alternate reality, series
Idea: A simple idea, actually. In a battle that goes wrong, Asuka is
forced to pick up an unconscious Rei into her entry plug. Unit-02, however,
is soon overwhelmed and suddenly goes berserk, reaching 400% synchronization.
A pilot retrieval is attempted, but only a single person is comes back.
The problem is that this person is neither Asuka or Rei, while she's also
both!
Both minds and bodies fused into a single one, this new person must
deal with a twisted and fragmented persona, while the others tries to comprehend
and adjust to this new situation. Will the souls of the two EVA pilots
manage to reach an equilibrium, or will this new person spend the rest
of her life tied up in a cell to prevent her from self destruction?
Comments: An old idea, which I had given away to a friend of mine, Deina
Jean Lesser. Unfortunately, college life prevented her to write past the
drafts of the first 4 parts. I must admit that it pains me to see this
work unfinished. Of all the projects listed here, this is the only one
I'll likely pick up myself if I eventually run out of things to write and
that no one picked it up for me.
