Day 12 Hokitika
This was the worst night for all of us... as we were setting up the campsite we were hit by a freak storm. All the work that we had done trying to get the site ready for the Riders was blown away, Flag poles were snapping like toothpicks. At this stage we were all cold and miserable, having to gather everything up and relocate the site to Westland Racing Club. After repacking the gear a hot meal of fish and chips was something to look forward to. Watching the riders stagger through then being told that the site was moved, you hade to feel sorry for them after battling through such harsh weather. Getting out of these wet clothes and having a hot shower was the highlight of the day.
Did someone order any wind.... Keith tries to keep the flags in place.
The storm subsides time to rince those socks out boys
Day 13 Greymouth
This would be the last stop for most. Time to clean up those bikes for the MAF and Customs people. Riders at a frenzy rushing to catch the train back to Christchurch. Now a few of us had to stay back and cleanup and repack the trucks before driving back to Hagley Park in Christchurch the next day. And you guessed it even more rain forcing us to abandon the tent and head for the club house. What a lovely way to end a ride.
