District 3020:
| Carved out as District 302 in 1990-91 from the already truncated but voluminous District 315 (which originally had Western, Central & South India and gradually shrunk in size), it became 3020 next year in keeping with R.I.’s policy of identifying Districts by a four-digit number system by adding a zero at the end of each District Number. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mostly
verdant and fertile, six revenue districts in
coastal Andhra Pradesh in South India along the
Bay of Bengal, make up Dist 3020 (Krishna, West
Godavari, East Godavari, Visakhpatnam &
Srikakulam), which are a connoisseur’s
delight. It comprises of 50000 sq. kms and has a population of about 200,00,000. It has major port cities, airports, biggest railway junctions and well served by a network of excellent roads. Paddy, sugarcane, maize, bananas, mangoes and many commercial crops grow in this area. Aqua & pisiculture & industries like steel, jute, paper, oil extraction, gas and thermal power, and other manufacturing /commercial activities are many. Two important rivers Godavari & Krishna flow through this area. It abounds in religious, historical, cultural & many pleasant places. Prestigious educational institutions are its forte. and with enviable activity by all clubs and their leaders it has grown in stature and strength with 85 clubs and approx 3000 members. It has the benefit of the presence of effective Governors who served the erstwhile District 315, and are now a part of this vibrant District.

| The District is a staunch supporter of The Rotary Foundation and has many outstanding Matching Grants projects to its credit. It regularly sends & hosts GSE teams and has fine Alumni activity. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clubs both in cities & mofussil areas are always buzzing with activity and are marching ahead to “Celebrate Rotary” in its Centennial Year, with meaningful and worthwhile projects in all Avenues of Service under the youthful leadership of L.Satyanarain (Tikku), ready to step into the second century under the erudite M.C.Das. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
